Founded by C.K. Wakefield and William Lambert in 1927 as Lambert & Wakefield, the company began business as a real estate brokerage and insurance firm. Upon the death of Bill Lambert, Mr. Wakefield was joined by son-in-law James A. Hopper, and in 1939, Wakefield & Hopper was born. In the late 1940’s, responding to the rise of real estate appraisal as a separate profession, the company changed its direction, focusing exclusively on the valuation of real property.
In 1963, son J. Kenneth Hopper entered the business, and in 1972, Wakefield & Hopper expanded its scope of expertise by affiliating with Real Property Analysts, a national team of real estate appraisers.
In 1977, Ken was joined by brother Lawrence D. Hopper, who, in 2000, took over ownership of the company. Together they carry on the family tradition of quality real estate appraisal and consulting.
